Synopsis
Émilie (newcomer Lucie Zhang) rents her spare room to a handsome teacher (Makita Samba), but the two quickly become flatmates with benefits. Nora (Noémie Merlant, PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE) is mistaken for a webcam porn star (Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth) and decides to track her counterpart down. Adapting three tales by frequent New Yorker illustrator Adrian Tomine and filming in beautifully muted black and white in a decidedly unromantic corner of the City of Lights, Palme d’Or winner Jacques Audiard (A PROPHET, RUST AND BONE) explores love and longing in the 21st century with a script by co-scribes, Céline Sciamma (PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE, PETITE MAMAN) and Léa Mysius.
